The U.S. women’s national team left Japan this week with a silver medal at the World Cup, finishing the competition with a 10-1 record. Undefeated China, the only team to hand the USA a loss, won its second consecutive World Cup gold.

The USA women’s national volleyball team went 5-0 in the first, and longest, phase of the 2019 FIVB World Cup. 

Three events make up the triple crown of international volleyball: the Olympics, World Championships, and World Cup. 

Team USA Women currently sit in second place with a 7-1 record at the FIVB World Cup with their lone loss coming in a devastating sweep by #1 Japan. Russia, who the women play on Friday, is also 7-1 and rounds out the top three teams of the tournament.
