Opening week of Division 2 volleyball created a lot of movement in the polls with some shocking results and incredible upsets.

As the 2024 women's college volleyball season kicks off this August, the first accolades and coaches polls are being released. The AVCA Coaches released their preseason volleyball rankings, covering the top 25 teams in Division I, Division II, and Division III.

The MPSF Men's Volleyball Championship is about to begin, with defending champions UCLA at the top of the pile, garnering the No. 1 seed and first-round bye, as well as clocking in at No. 1 in the AVCA Coaches Poll and RPI to end the 2024 season.

Seven MPSF Men's Volleyball teams will come together to decide who will reign supreme in one of the toughest volleyball conferences in the NCAA. Five MSPF programs reside within the top 10 of the most recent AVCA Coaches Poll, including UCLA (No. 1), Grand Canyon (No. 4), BYU (No. 6), Stanford (No. 7) and Pepperdine (No. 9). All those teams will be part of the MPSF tournament, along with USC, who are No. 14 in the Coaches Poll, and Concordia.

UCLA men's volleyball, following a 22-4 regular season, landed at the top spot in the most recent AVCA Coaches Poll, just before teams head to to conference tournaments and then the NCAA tournament.

UCLA men's volleyball sits at the top of the standings at the end of the MPSF men's volleyball regular season. In garnering the top seed in the upcoming MPSF Men's Volleyball Tournament, the defending national champions will get an extra day of rest while the rest of the competition duke it out in the quarterfinals.

It’s postseason time in college volleyball, and the best and brightest will show out in hopes of winning a tournament title and advance to the all-important NCAA Tournament.

Wingate middle blocker Maggie Young was voted the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year, while Mars Hill’s middle hitter Katilyn Grant was named the Conference’s Freshman of the Year, and Anderson head coach Todd Hay was named Coach of the Year, the conference office announced today.

Tusculum’s Emiah Burrowes was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Catawba’s Riley Hill was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Lenoir-Rhyne’s Emmaleigh Allen was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Mars Hill’s Laela Jimenez was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during the seventh week of the 2023 season. Lincoln Memorial’s Kristen Moehring was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Wingate’s Emily Johnson was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Lenoir-Rhyne swept the awards, as Sydney Karjala was voted the Offensive Player of the Week and Kathy Peter was voted the Defensive Player of the Week.
