Wingate setter Shannon Kasprak was voted the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year, while Lenoir-Rhyne outside hitter Emmaleigh Allen was named SAC Freshman of the Year.

Additionally, Wingate head coach Shelton Collier was named SAC Coach of the Year, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Kasprak, a graduate student from Austin, Texas, was one of the top all-around players in the SAC this season. She ranks second in assists with 896, third in assists per set (10.30) and is ranked in the top-10 in services aces (32) and hitting percentage (.347). 

Behind her leadership, the Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 17-1 conference record and a win of the Piedmont Division, and they are ranked No. 25 nationally.

Allen, a freshman from Wooster, Ohio, was an offensive threat for the Bears all season. She finished the year with 263 kills, 28 service aces, 30 blocks and a .151 hitting percentage. She also had 248 digs and amassed 308.5 points throughout the season.

Collier led the Bulldogs to a 26-2 record overall, going 17-1 in the SAC in 2022. 

Under his guidance, Wingate is ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Southeast Region and No. 25 nationally. 

Collier's Bulldogs finished third in the league in kills (1,335), first in kills per set (13.91), third in digs (1,564), third in digs per set (16.29) and first in points per set (18.5).

Joining Kasprak on the first team were Wingate's Emily Johnson and Molly Lambillotte, Mars Hill's Sarah Goddard, Tusculum's Emiah Burrowes and Carly Sosnowski, Carson-Newman's Julia Wheeler, and Anderson's Noelle Knutsen.
