Big East volleyball has become more competitive over the last few years. Creighton has taken nine consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament and will be looking for no. 10 this fall. Marquette made its first NCAA Tournament in 2011 and advanced all the way to the Sweet 16 just three seasons ago. In 2019, St. John’s broke through and won the league, making its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 12 years.

A lot has changed since the last time we had a “normal” NCAA volleyball season, and yet, in the Colonial Athletic Association, Towson remains the team to beat just as it was back in the age of innocence, aka 2019, and throughout the abbreviated 2020-21 spring season.

Over 430 teams will be in attendance this weekend at the Nike Boston Volleyball Festival.

Angelo State won the AVCA Division II Volleyball Championship on Saturday in Dallas, defeating Tampa in the final 11-25, 25-18, 25-13, 22-25, 15-9.

The  2021 AVCA DII Women's Championship will consist of a round of pool play after which the teams will be split into two brackets, with the top two teams of each pool feeding into one bracket and the remaining teams going into the other bracket.

It was way back in August when the NCAA canceled the 2020 Division II women’s volleyball championship, along with seven other DII fall sports championships. While Division I championships for fall sports were pushed to the spring, Division II teams could play in the spring, but there would be no NCAA championship to look forward to and work towards at the end of the season.

Delaware and Northeastern faced off twice this past weekend and traded wins with the Huskies coming out on top on their Senior Day on Sunday. While it was Northeastern's first CAA conference loss, it was the Blue Hens first conference win.
