The South Atlantic Conference announced its Volleyball Players of the Week for matches played during the 10th week of the 2022 season. 

Anderson right-side hitter Rylie Sargent was tabbed as the SAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Carson-Newman outside hitter Blake Cherry was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Sargent, a junior from Greer, South Carolina, led Anderson to a pair of league wins over Wingate and Coker. She recorded 27 kills (3.38/set) with a .451 attacking percentage on the week. 

Her efforts were highlighted by a match-high and career-best 22 kills (4.4/set) (.429 hitting percentage) in a five-set win over No. 20 Wingate on Friday. She followed it with five kills and a .559 hitting percentage during the Trojans’ sweep of the Cobras on Saturday.

Cherry, a sophomore from Cookeville, Tennessee, led the Eagles to a 3-2 win over Mars Hill and a 3-0 sweep over Limestone.

She added 10 kills and a career-high 28 digs against the Lions on Tuesday and recorded nine kills to help sweep the Saints on Friday evening. 

In the first set against Limestone, Cherry recorded her fifth kill to break the tie of 23 and give the Eagles a 25-23 set victory.
