With the recent transfer news of top recruit and freshman contributor Lexi Sun breaking this week — along with the loss of libero Olivia Zelon this offseason — rumors about the reputation of the University of Texas women's volleyball program have begun to surface.

On February 22, Olivia Zelon wrote an entry in her blog titled "Why Walking Away Was The Best Decision," which details her personal experience in the program and captures some of the outside speculation about the program regarding the intensity of the program.

"I decided that I am done," Zelon writes. "I am done getting punished. I am done walking on eggshells everywhere I go. And lastly, I am done getting treated with disrespect. So, after 10 years of playing the sport I truly loved, I quit."

She concludes her post by going so far as suggesting the program was, as she experienced it at least, "toxic."

"From this whole experience I have learned a huge lesson – get out of toxic situations," she writes. "Do things that you enjoy. Do things that make you happy. And lastly, wake up each morning excited for the day. Because that’s what I have now, and it rocks."

Zelon's post quickly became a catalyst for an overwhelming number of responses from former players defending the Texas program and what their experience meant to them.
