USC has announced that former University of Portland head coach Brent Crouch is taking over the women’s volleyball program.

Crouch spent four season at Portland. He took over in 2014, following a 2013 season in which the Pilots went winless. In his second season with the program, Crouch guided the team to a 16-15 record, its winningest season in more than 20 years. Then in 2016, the team won even more matches and Crouch was named the West Coast Conference Coach of the Year.

Before taking the Portland head coaching gig, Crouch spent four seasons at St. Mary’s (CA), where he was an indoor assistant and head beach coach.

USC went 25-10 in 2017 and advanced to the regional final of the NCAA tournament, where it was points away from advancing to the national semifinals; however, 17-year head coach Mick Haley was fired in December.
