Cal Announces Matt McShane As New Head Women's Volleyball Coach
Cal has named previous associate head coach Matt McShane as the sixth head coach of the Bears women’s volleyball program.

McShane served as Cal associate head coach in 2016 and was an assistant in Berkeley from 2005-2009. He replaces Rich Feller, who recently announced his retirement.

This is not McShane’s first head coaching position, as he served as head coach of the Air Force program from 2010 to 2015. He has also been an assistant at Utah, New Mexico, and BYU, and worked with the U.S. National Team.

"I am honored, thrilled and excited, but at the same time it's a little daunting having to follow Rich," McShane said. "Rich has absolutely been a legend of Cal Athletics. It's Cal. Only the best of the best students, best of the best teachers and best of the best coaches come here. I think we are going to do some amazing things, but one of the tough things is the best things have already happened here. We just get to do them again."
