USA Volleyball has announced that it will host a collegiate pairs championship on May 11-13, 2017, in Hermosa Beach California.

When the AVCA hosted the end-of-season tournament for college beach volleyball from 2012 to 2015, that event included a pairs championships, but with the first NCAA-sponsored championship in 2016, the pairs tournament fell to the wayside, much to the chagrin of many players and beach volleyball fans.

The USAV pairs championships will feature 24 women's pairs and eight men's pairs. The eight schools that qualify for the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championships the weekend before will each earn an automatic berth for its top pair. A selection committee will choose the rest of the women's teams and all eight men's teams based on their performance in 2017 and their USAV Beach rankings.

The winning men's and women's teams will earn spots on the USA Volleyball collegiate beach national team.

NBC Sports Network will air the women's final live on May 13 from 6-7:30 PM ET, followed by the tape-delayed broadcast of the men's final.
