Reports: University Of Oregon Fires Volleyball Coaches Moore, Metro
Sources say that Oregon coaches Jim Moore and Stacy Metro have been fired.
The University of Oregon has fired head volleyball coach Jim Moore and assistant Stacy Metro after 12 seasons, according to The Daily Emerald and multiple reports.
The Oregon athletic department has not released a statement concerning the reports. Moore told Oregon Live on Monday that he and Metro, who are married, are in negotiation with the university and "are trying to come to a settlement."
According to Oregon Live, Moore's current contract with Oregon goes through January 31, 2018. Metro's contract is renewed annually.
Sources are reporting that the husband-and-wife coaching team were fired for cause, meaning that the university would not be responsible for future payments to either Moore or Metro.
Moore, the all-time winningest coach in program history, has compiled a 186-98 record with the Ducks and has guided Oregon to six straight NCAA tournament berths. The Ducks earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament this past season and finished with a 21-10 overall mark after falling to Michigan in the second round.
Metro, who was an assistant for the indoor team, served as the head coach for the Oregon beach volleyball team, which has played two matches so far this season but does not have another match until April 7.
