Some of the most exciting NCAA volleyball matches of 2016 have gone down on Wednesday nights. Don't miss tonight's top matchups.
No. 3 Kansas at Kansas State | 7 PM CT | ESPN3
The red-hot Kansas Jayhawks, who upset Texas on Saturday, are in Manhattan to play Kansas State in the Sunflower Showdown tonight. Kansas swept K-State when the two teams played for the first time this season, but the Wildcats are hoping their senior setter Katie Brand can lead them to a huge upset of their own. Brand is ranked sixth in the nation and first in the Big 12 with 11.64 assists per set.
No. 5 Wisconsin at No. 17 Ohio State | 8 PM ET | BTN2Go
Ohio State has had a rollercoaster of a season. Since upsetting No. 1-ranked Nebraska, the Buckeyes have dropped matches to Michigan State, Michigan, Maryland, and Penn State. Wisconsin, on the other hand, has only lost to Nebraska and Minnesota in conference play. Even so, no Big Ten matches are guaranteed, and an upset for Ohio State would go a long way toward improving its standing in the conference.
Maryland coach Steve Aird's Terrapins pulled off a massive upset of Ohio State last week. The win showed all of the Big Ten Maryland's ability to hang with the best. Up-and-down Purdue, which kicked the season off with huge out-of-conference victories but is 4-8 in the Big Ten, is another vulnerable team that Maryland could take advantage of. But then again, West Holloway Gymnasium can be a tough place to play.
