Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross won their 2016 Olympics quarterfinal match over Australia's Louise Bawden and Taliqua Clancy 21-14, 21-16 in 40 minutes. 

The Americans had defeated the Australians in four previous meetings, and the fifth time was no charm for the Aussies. Although they lead early in set one, Walsh Jennings and Ross wasted no time in roaring back and keeping a tight hold on the momentum for the remainder of the match.

With the victory, Walsh Jennings and Ross advance to the semifinals on Tuesday where they will play Brazilians Barbara Seixas and Agatha Bednarczuk. In four previous meetings with the Brazilians, Walsh Jennings and Ross have won three times, but the two teams have not met since the 2015 Gstaad Major.

In the second semifinal match, Brazil's Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca will take on Germany's Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst.

The men's beach volleyball quarterfinals will take place tomorrow, beginning with Americans Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena taking on Brazil's Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt at 3 p.m. ET.
