The FIVB and the Swatch Major Series have chosen Toronto to host the Swatch Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals, September 13-18.

This season-ending beach volleyball tournament will feature the top 12 teams per gender competing for their share of the $500,000 purse. Last year, Fort Lauderdale hosted the inaugural Swatch World Tour Finals, with Brazilians Bruno Oscar Schmidt and Alison Cerutti and Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca finishing on top.

"2011 was the last time there was a beach volleyball event in Canada, in Quebec City. Toronto had a World Tour event 16 years ago--that's too long ago," said Mark Eckert, president of the Canadian Volleyball Federation. "We are one of four countries in the world that have qualified four teams for the Olympic Games. Beach volleyball is growing in this country. We are a world leader and now our athletes are the top athletes."
