Earlier today, in the pool play rounds of the FIVB Gstaad Major, Lauren Fendrick and Brooke Sweat upset fellow Americans Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross.

Fifteenth seeds Fendrick and Sweat defeated No. 2 seeds Ross and Walsh Jennings 15-21, 21-19, 15-13, to secure their first-ever victory over the top American duo in a total of 10 meetings.

Ross and Walsh Jennings ended their three-match losing streak, which began in the semifinals of last week’s Porec Major, with a defeat of Swiss team Nicole Eiholzer and Dunja Gerson in their second pool play match.

In other news from the stunning mountain city of Gstaad, Taylor and Trevor Crabb made the main draw after two victories in the qualifier, while Ryan Doherty and John Mayer’s tournament came to an end with a loss in the second round of the qualifier to Francisco Alfredo Marco and Christian Garcia of Spain.
