Misty May-Treanor Named Long Beach City College Coach
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor will serve as director of volleyball operations and head coach of the women’s indoor and beach teams at Long Beach City College.

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor will serve as director of volleyball operations and head coach of the women’s indoor and beach teams at Long Beach City College. The 2016-17 school year will mark the inaugural season for the LBCC beach volleyball program.
May-Treanor, an alumna of Long Beach State where she won a national championship in 1998 and was named Honda-Broderick Award female collegiate athlete of the year, previously coached at Irvine Valley College and USC. She has a BA in kinesiology and fitness from Long Beach State and a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine. On the beach, she won 112 titles and competed in four Olympics.
“My family lives in Long Beach and I want to help the next generation of players in my community,” said May. “I’m very excited to help the players at LBCC and advance the volleyball program.”
May-Treanor will official start her new position on July 5.
