Kerri Walsh Jennings made an appearance at the NCAA Division I women's volleyball national championship match, as she often does. This year was perhaps even more special for her than all the times before with her alma mater Stanford University fighting for, and eventually winning, its seventh national championship title inside Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday night.

During the break between sets two and three, championship MC Mark Schuermann interviewed Walsh Jennings. First, she shared an inside look at the way a college athlete feels playing in the national championship match, as she did three times.

Then, Schuermann asked her about her experience at the Rio Olympics and mentioned how excited her kids Sundance, Joey, and Scout must have been when their mom to win another Olympic medal.

Walsh Jennings shared that the first thing her kids said when she returned home from Brazil was, "But you didn't win gold." And Walsh Jennings' response? "Tokyo 2020, kids."

The declaration received an enthusiastic response from the crowd inside Nationwide and an outpouring of support from fans on social media.

April Ross, Walsh Jennings partner for the past four years, said after Rio that she planned to take a year off to start a family; however, Ross recently declared her intention to play in 2017, alongside Walsh Jennings.
