USA beach volleyball players April Ross, Nick Lucena and Brooke Sweat had a moment of panic on their way to Rio. The three Olympians' flight out of Houston got delayed to the point that they knew they wouldn't make their connection to Rio out of Miami. American Airlines told them there were no available seats on a flight until August 6.

Ross and partner Kerri Walsh Jennings are scheduled to play their first Olympics match on August 6.

Nick Lucena posted to Facebook, seeking help from anyone who might have the means or connections to get this crew to Rio on time.

"April Ross, Brooke Youngquist Sweat, and myself are going to miss our connection in miami to rio and was told by American Airlines that there are no seats on any airlines till August 6th!!" Lucena wrote. "SOS! Great start to the Olympics! Seriously, help!"

Ross turned to Instagram to post her message of distress.

Various comments on these posts called on Team USA sponsor United Airlines to assist, as well as Ross' sponsor Gatorade and even Donald Trump. In the end, USA Volleyball, the USOC and United Airlines were able to pull some strings and get the threesome on a flight out of Houston.
