Hofstra Draws North Carolina In NCAA Baseball Championship Opener

After making history in North Carolina by capturing its first CAA Baseball Championship, Hofstra is returning to the Tar Heel state for its inaugural appearance in the NCAA Baseball Championship.

Hofstra (30-21) will face ACC champion and 10th-seeded North Carolina (38-19) at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium in Chapel Hill. The game will air on ESPN+. Also competing in the Chapel Hill regional are Georgia (35-21) and VCU (40-18), who will play at 7 p.m.

The Pride brings a season-best nine-game winning streak into the NCAA Tournament after a dramatic run through the CAA Baseball Championship. Hofstra won all four of its games in its final at-bat, including three walk-off wins. Hofstra edged Northeastern, 7-6, in the title game.

North Carolina won the ACC title last weekend with a 9-5 victory over NC State. The Tar Heels have won seven games in a row entering the Regional. Hofstra and North Carolina will be meeting for the first time on the baseball diamond.

The Rams of VCU won the Atlantic 10 Championship for the second consecutive year and enter the weekend with a 15-game winning streak. Hofstra is 8-27 all-time versus VCU, a former CAA rival.

Georgia earned its way into the NCAA Regionals as an at-large selection out of the SEC. The Bulldogs and Pride have not competed against each other in baseball.

Tickets packages for the weekend will go on sale Wednesday at noon. Single-game tickets will be available starting Thursday at noon. They will be $15 for a single game, $60 for full session tickets. A link for tickets is available on the baseball schedule page on GoHofstra.com

Parking will be available in the Rams Head Deck for $10 and in the Craige Deck for free (levels 5-9). Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday, there will also be free parking available in the Bowles Lot, the Raleigh Road Visitors Lot and on Stadium Drive. Disability parking is available for $10 in the Rams Head Deck. Ridge Road will be closed to through traffic for the weekend.

Gates will open two hours prior to first pitch and we will clear the stadium between games.
