The second match in Pool 3 in Katowice on Saturday was a grueling five setter in which hosts Poland scored their second victory in the 2019 VNL - this time against Team USA.

USA coach John Speraw: "It was a great match, I think we competed really well. We had our chances in a couple of different sets and I'm sure they felt the same way. They just came out on top. Playing in Poland is always a great experience, because of this crowd. I love it! We appreciate their enthusiasm and I'm sure they are making Poland better. When we are here we always feel like the fans greet us too. I feel like we have a lot of mutual respect, both teams are talented, so we end up competing for important tournaments and we have some great matches."

USA player Torey Defalco: "It's always amazing to play against Poland in Poland, I love it. Both teams played very hard, it was a really good game. I made some mistakes in the end, that I cannot afford and it makes a difference. But it was the same on both sides. Both teams are really good and during the games like that you don't want to give points away."

Poland coach Vital Heynen: "I'm satisfied that we could play an incredible game for all fans. To be honest, what was the best part of this match? The ten minutes before the match and ten minutes after it. This crowd is amazing, it's so nice to play here. Seeing them supporting us, feeling them, that's amazing! Why we won? Because they kept supporting us. I think that in the fourth set we almost gave up, we were close to giving up, but they helped us. And in the tie-break the fans made the difference."

Poland player Grzegorz Łomacz: "It was really tough. We could have lost this game, but eventually we could celebrate a win. Every game is a different story, so we didn't treat it as a revenge for the World Championship. It was an extremely long and tiring match-up, but fortunately we won, which takes off some of the fatigue. Our game is not stable yet, because we just finished the league season. Tomorrow we will play against Brazil and we will fight for a win."
