The U.S. Women's National Team added some more gold to its collection on Saturday, rallying to defeat the host Dominican Republic and claim its second consecutive NORCECA Pan-American Cup title.

Despite a roster with seven players make their international debuts, the Americans were resilient throughout the tournament—particularly in the final, after falling behind 2-0 against the veteran Dominicans.

Aiyana Whitney led all scorers with 27 points (23 kills, two blocks, two aces) and she led the USA to its fifth Pan-Am Cup in six years, 24-26, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-8.

"It took us two sets to adjust our game," said Jon Newman-Gonchar, who is serving as the U.S. head coach at the Pan Am Cup. "Once we slowed down their two strong attackers, we applied U.S. pressure and finished the job. I am very proud of successfully defending the crown."

Coppell, Texas-native Chiaka Ogbogu earned Best Blocker honors and added 21 points with 14 kills on 24 swings and a match-best seven blocks in the gold medal match.
