USA Sweeps Puerto Rico, Takes Pool B At Pan-Am Cup

The U.S. Women’s National Team used a 12-1 block advantage to sweep Puerto Rico 25-22, 25-21, 25-14 on Tuesday, clinching first place in Pool B.

USA Sweeps Puerto Rico, Takes Pool B At Pan-Am Cup

The U.S. Women's National Team swept Puerto Rico on Tuesday (25-22, 25-21, 25-14), clinching first place in Pool B and advancing to Wednesdays quarterfinals.

The Americans used a 12-1 block advantage to cruise to its second victory in three nights against the previously unbeaten Puerto Ricans, who also advanced in spite of the loss as the pool's second place team.

Outside hitters Sarah Wilhite and Simone Lee paced Team USA offensive attack with a combined 27 points. Lee led all players with 13 kills.

Middle Chiaka Ogbogu added 10 points on three blocks, a pair of aces, and a match-high five blocks.
