Volleyball legend Kerri Walsh Jennings and her husband, Casey, have officially launched p1440 — an event series that will include, among other things, a beach volleyball tournament and a musical festival.

According to Walsh Jennings, however, the idea of p1440 is much larger than that.

She lists competition, development, health and wellness, and, of course, entertainment as the four pillars upon which p1440 has been founded, with the intent of becoming “the trusted, go-to resource to enhance personal performance at all levels.”

That’s where the platform — or train of thought — got its name. There are 1,440 minutes in a day, each of which should be lived to the fullest, according to Walsh.

In an interview with Fast Company, Walsh Jennings referred to p1440 as “part Wanderlust, part Coachella, part volleyball league.” In some ways, the primary purpose of the latter is to deemphasize the Olympics as the sort of end-all-be-all of the sport.

With pros and lovers of the sport paying monthly fees alongside corporate sponsorships, Walsh Jennings hopes that p1440 will provide top competitors with an opportunity to make living off of strictly volleyball.

Walsh Jennings’ platform will also aim to provide myriad health and wellness opportunities unrelated to volleyball, but we’ll allow her to speak for herself:

The 39-year-old three-time gold medalist hasn’t done much losing in her career — and something tells us she won’t be starting now.
