USA Roster For FIVB Women's U20 World Championships Announced
U.S. women's junior national team head coach Laurie Corbelli and USA Volleyball have announced the group of 12 athletes who will travel to the FIVB Women's U20 World Championships in Mexico on July 14-23.
U.S. women's junior national team head coach Laurie Corbelli and USA Volleyball have announced the group of 12 athletes who will travel to the FIVB Women's U20 World Championships in Mexico on July 14-23.
The final roster was selected from a group of 16 athletes who participated in a 10-day training session at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO.
The team for U20 World Championships features a mix of top high school talent, incoming college freshmen, and established NCAA players. Future Florida Gator Thayer Hall of Moore, South Carolina, is the sole high school athlete to make the final roster, joining college freshman Brionne Butler (Texas), Paige Hammons (Florida), and Gabby Curry (Kentucky). Sophomores Tiffany Clark (Wisconsin), Regan Pittman (Minnesota), Holly Carlton (North Carolina), Ronika Stone (Oregon), Norene Iosia (Hawaii), MacKenzi Welsh (Michigan), Rachael Kramer (Florida), and Leah Edmond (Kentucky) complete the roster.
The junior national team earned its spot in the U20 World Championships by winning the U20 Pan American Cup in May. Butler, Clark, Hall, Hammons, Pittman, Carlton, and Welsh were all a part of the Pan-Am Cup team, with Hall leading the USA with 20 points in the gold medal match versus Cuba.
