Introducing The Flo50 Club Volleyball Rankings
Introducing the Flo50 Girls' Club Volleyball Rankings. This week, we rank the top 50 18s teams in the country.
FloVolleyball is excited to announce our new series of premium club volleyball rankings. The Flo50 will rank the top teams in age divisions from 18s to 14s, with a new ranking releasing each week.
We're starting this week with the 18s division.
Get to know some of the top-ranked 18s teams as clubs gear up for the first tournaments of the year.
TAV won the 17 Open title at USA Volleyball's Girls Junior National Championships in 2016 and will be a threat to win again at the 18s level this year. Payton Schwantz (a Duke commitment) and Madison Goings (an Oregon State commit) will be threats on the pins as TAV 18 Black looks to recreate their championship magic.
Sports Performance claimed its fifth straight AAU 18s national title in 2016 and will be in the hunt for another crown with highly regarded setter Ashley Shook (a Texas commit) running the offense for its 18 Elite team this year.
Top Select 17s caused quite a stir in 2016 by qualifying for 18s at GJNC and winning the 17s title at AAUs. Skywalking opposite Stephanie Samedy (a Minnesota commit) and 6-foot-4 middle Morgan Davis (a Texas A&M commit) pace the loaded Top Select 18 Elite Blake lineup.
MN Select 18-1 took home the 18 Open title at GJNC last year with only one senior in the lineup; however, this year they'll also have to fill holes left by three players, including setter Sydney Hilley (a Wisconsin commit), starting college early.
Club Iowa Juniors 18 Black returns 6-4 outside Kylie Kuyava-DeBerg (an Illinois commit) and adds 6-4 middle Taryn Knuth (a Florida State commit) and 6-3 outside Mackenzie May (a UCLA commit) to form one of the most dangerous lineups in the country.
Qualifier season gets started in a hurry with the Winter Championships in Chicago and the KC MLK Day Qualifier, both January 14-16. A total of 36 Open bids will be up for grabs at 16 qualifying events. There are 48 bids available in the National and USA divisions and 64 spots offered in the American and Patriot divisions. The 2017 Girls' 18 Junior National Championship is in Dallas at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on April 21-23.
