A story about an inspirational high school volleyball team is being made into a movie.

Helen Hunt will star in The Miracle Season, a feature film about an Iowa girls’ volleyball team that faced the death of its star player and went on to win the state title in her honor, according to a recent report on Deadline.com. The film will premier on April 13, 2018.

Hunt, an Academy Award-winning actress, will play Iowa City West girls’ volleyball coach Kathy Bresnahan. Friday Night Lights screenwriter David Aaron Cohen penned the script.

Caroline Found, whose nickname was “Line,” passed away tragically in a 2011 moped crash. Months after her death, Iowa City West won the state championship with plenty of credit owed to Bresnahan, whose character has been described by Deadline as a proponent of “tough-love.”

“I hope [Hunt is] ready to play a volleyball coach,” Bresnahan told the Iowa City Press-Citizen. “Obviously, if you look at the bulk of her career, you can see she is a great actress.”

Hunt won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in As Good As It Gets. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2012 for her role in The Sessions.

Bresnahan said for The Miracle Season to be an accurate depiction it has to “communicate what we went through that season, what those 15 high school girls pushed through.”

“Those 15 girls changed my soul,” she added.

The story of Found and Iowa City West has already been the topic of a book and a number of documentaries.

“This is one of those ageless stories,” Bresnahan said.
