CAA Women's Volleyball Notes: Standings Shuffle, Towson & Campbell Rise
Week 2 CAA women’s volleyball standings show Hofstra undefeated at No. 1, Towson climbing to No. 2, and Campbell surging to No. 3 after strong performances.

As teams settled into play, stronger cohesion and skilled performance made for a great week of CAA women’s volleyball matches. The time has given lower teams the chance to rise to the occasion, Towson (No. 2) and Campbell (No. 3) being two of the standouts.

Towson is on the come-up after a week of wins. Starting the season with two back-to-back losses, the team seems to have shaken them off. Riding a five-game win streak, Towson has shot up to second in the CAA standings. Their latest games took place at home for the Towson-Morgan State Invite, and home games will continue next week for the Towson-Coppin State Invitational. The team’s first conference game is against Charleston on Sept. 20, also at home, where they appear to have found their rhythm.
The Campbell Fighting Camels brought their best game to the Dun Campbell Invitational, winning all three of their matches. They now average 11.8 assists and 13 kills per set. These recent victories boosted them from sixth to third in the CAA standings.
Hofstra (No. 1), Northeastern (No. 4), and William & Mary (No. 5) held their ground this week. Hofstra is the only undefeated team in the CAA following week two, beating West Point (3-2), Rider (3-1), and Binghamton (3-1) all in one weekend at the Black Knight Invitational.
Northeastern’s trip to New York for the Big Apple Tournament was a success. The team began with a loss against Fordham (1-3) but followed it with wins against Columbia (3-1) and New Haven (3-2) to finish the weekend strong.
William & Mary managed two wins and a loss at the UMBC Tournament. In their match against Old Dominion, senior middle blocker Olivia Esposito served six aces, the second-most in a single match in program history.
