The Pac-12, in all its many incarnations, has been one of college baseball’s most successful conferences. The league has been home to the team with the most College World Series championships in Southern California.

It’s been the league that has seen greats like Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Randy Johnson, Tom Seaver and John Olerud.

Even NFL great John Elway was a star infielder at Stanford.

And now it ends.

The Pac-12 will cease in its current form after this season. USC, UCLA, Washington and Oregon are going to strengthen the Big Ten. Arizona, Arizona State and Utah (Colorado does not have a baseball program) are joining the Big 12. Stanford and Cal are headed to the ACC.

Ironically enough, the team that isn’t leaving on their own omission is the best team entering the 2024 season in Oregon State Baseball.

The Beavers are the highest-ranked team in the conference. They open the season at the Sanderson Ford Baseball Classic and have the league’s top player in Travis Bazzana.

The Oregon State baseball team, which will open the season at the Sanderson Ford Baseball Classic in Surprise, Arizona on Feb. 16 and play in the second weekend of the College Baseball Showdown, is the favorite to win the league.

The Beavers received eight first-place votes.
