Wingate guard Destin Clark has been named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played during Week 7 of the 2022-2023 season, the conference announced Monday.

Clark, a sophomore from Indian Land, South Carolina, led the Bulldogs to a pair of nonconference wins over Barton (85-71) and Mount Olive (102-90). 

He averaged 21 points with 9.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and a steal over the two games, knocking down 20 points, with four rebounds and eight assists, versus Barton and netting 22 points, 15 rebounds and five assists against Mount Olive. 

He finished the week going 14-for-21 from the field (66.7%) and 13-for-19 (68.4%) from the charity stripe.
