Kansas Goes 3-0 To Win Wolverine Invitational

A champion was crowned at the Wolverine Invitational at Utah Valley University on Saturday evening. Kansas, which went 3-0 at the event and is 6-0 for the season, swept Montana, it's final opponent of the tournament, 25-9, 25-22, 25-16 to win the title.

A champion was crowned at the Wolverine Invitational at Utah Valley University on Saturday evening. Kansas, which went 3-0 at the event and is 6-0 for the season, swept Montana, its final opponent of the tournament, 25-9, 25-22, 25-16 to win the title.

Senior opposite Kelsie Payne had 10 kills in the match versus Montana, and earned the tournament MVP honor, average 4.80 kills per set and hitting .389 in three matches at the Wolverine Invitational. Outside hitters Jada Burse and Madison Rigdon were also named to the all-tournament team, as was Montana freshman middle blocker Baily Permann.

Host team Utah Valley rode career high numbers from Madison Dennison to a 3-1 (25-21, 12-25, 27-25, 25-18) victory over Long Beach State to conclude the tournament and improve its season record to 3-4.

Long Beach State, which is 1-5 for the season, went winless in Orem.

Dennison was named to the all-tournament team, along with senior setter Sierra Starley and Long Beach State's Megan Kruidhof.
