Eight aces helped lift BYU over Missouri 25-13, 21-25, 25-21, 25-16 on the second day of the Boise State Invitational. With the win, No. 10 BYU improved to 5-0.

Heather Olmstead, head coach of the Cougars, said that her team struggled to get in a rhythm, and it showed on the stats sheet, with the Cougars averaging .159 on offense with 29 hitting errors as a team.

Mizzou, however, hit .055, but out-blocked the Cougars 16 to eight.



"I was very encouraged tonight by our performance against BYU," Missouri head coach Wayne Kreklow. "They are a great team and there were several really positive takeaways. Our blocking was outstanding. Our passing was very solid after the first set. We have to continue to work on our serving and offensive efficiency, however."

Missouri is playing without its star redshirt senior outside hitter Melanie Crow, who went down with an undisclosed injury during the opening weekend of the season, but the Tigers were able to secure a 24-26, 25-20, 25-18, 25-20 victory over Sacramento State in the first match of the day at the Boise State Invitational.

Freshman Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana contributed 12 kills in that match, only one fewer than senior Sydney Deeken, who tied the match-high of 13 with Sacramento State's Mikaela Nocetti and Shannon Boyle.

The home team Boise State ended the day with a down-to-the-wire victory over Sacramento State, 17-25, 25-20, 26-24, 23-25, 18-16. After breaking the school's career kills record and setting a personal season high on the first day of competition at the Boise State Invitational, senior outside hitter Sierra Nobley once again led the Broncos, this time with 32 kills on 81 swings hitting .222.

"I don't think we were expecting Sac State to come out as aggressive as they did," Nobley said. "We were on our heels and we had to fight back. An ugly win is still a win."

Mikaela Nocetti led Sacramento State with 19 kills hitting .296.
