The JVA West Coast Cup is shaping up to be one of the most competitive tournaments of the season, with 10 or more teams ranked in the Flo50 in almost every Open division. The second-to-last JVA tournament of the season brings the top teams of California and some of the best from around the country together inside the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center to play top-notch competition only weeks before AAU and USA Volleyball national championships.

FloVolleyball will be live-streaming courts 23-32 from the 2017 JVA West Coast Cup on Saturday, May 27, to Monday, May 29.



Here are the top teams we'll be watching in the Open divisions.

18 Open

Tstreet 18 Troy

Irvine, California

Tstreet 18 Troy only lost two matches at USA Volleyball's Girls' 18s Junior National Championships and finished tied for third. The No. 5-ranked squad from from Irvine split matches with No. 2-ranked TAV 18 Black at GJNCs. Utah-bound Shannon Scully and UCLA committed libero Kelsey Campeau are players to watch.

K2 18 Adidas Jota

Louisville, Tennessee

Tennessee's most deadly 18s team earned a runner-up finish at the JVA World Challenge, going undefeated until the championship match versus Fusion 18 Red. K2 18 Adidas Jota hasn't played since the World Challenge in early April; however, so we'll have to wait and see if that means the team is well rested or rusty.

17 Open

TAV 17 Black

Carrollton, Texas

The JVA West Coast Cup will be the last tournament before Girls' Junior Nationals for the undisputed top 17s team in the country. Led by Texas-bound middle Asjia O'Neal and Minnesota-committed outside Adanna Rollins, not to mention future TCU opposite Katie Clark and Texas A&M commit libero Berkley Adams--all of whom were featured in FloVolleyball's Top 25 Texas Players: Class of 2018 list--TAV 17 Black maintained an undefeated record for much of the season, losing its first match at the Lone Star Star Classic in April.

Sunshine 17-1

Los Angeles, California

From a fourth-place finish at the Colorado Crossroads qualifier, Sunshine 17-1 rose to the top and secured an Open bid by winning the Windy City Qualifier. Keep an eye out for NC State-bound opposite Melissa Evans, San Diego recruit Elise Austin in the middle, and setter Emery Bolkin.

16 Open

Mintonette m.61

Lewis Center, Ohio

Mintonette m.61 has finished in the top five of three national qualifier tournaments, winning the Mideast Qualifier and finishing runner-up at Big South. In its most recent outing, the team came in tied for fifth at the Windy City Qualifier. Michigan-bound libero Amber Beals, high-flying middles Brianna Hollingshed and Chiamaka Nwokolo, and Maryland recruit setter Machaela Podraza will be players to watch.

San Gabriel Elite 16 Roshambo

Los Angeles, California

The Colorado Crossroads 16 Open champion is ready to make waves at the JVA West Coast Cup. Five players on the team just announced their college commitments, so they should be ready to focus on the task at hand, winning gold at West Coast Cup before heading to GJNCs.

15 Open

TAV 15 Black

Carrollton, Texas

TAV 15 Black finished first at all three legs of the 2017 Tour of Texas, took home a third-place finish at the Triple Crown Sports National Invitational, and won two national qualifiers (the Lone Star Classic and Northeast Qualifier). Look for them to contend for the title this week in Long Beach and next month in Minneapolis.

Wave 15 Brennan

San Diego, California

With two qualifier titles under its belt and a fourth-place finish at Triple Crown, Wave 15 Brennan has established itself as one of the top 15s teams in the country. The San Diego squad lost to TAV 15 Black twice at Triple Crown, so if there's a rematch in Long Beach, expect it to be a heated battle.

14 Open

TAV 14 Black

Carrollton, Texas

No team could touch TAV 14 Black at the Northeast Qualifier or the Lone Star Classic--the Texas squad went undefeated on its way to winning both titles. The champions of the Triple Crown National Invitational are looking for yet another victory at a top-level national tournament, and we'd have to say they're the favorites to do so in Long Beach.

Tstreet 14 Carson

Irvine, California

With two players touching 10 feet, Tstreet 14 Carson has battled its way to a title at the SCVA qualifier and a runner-up finish at Windy City. The squad ranked second in the latest SCVA rankings after placing first at Mandatory #3.
