Wisconsin Middle Blocker Haleigh Nelson To Play Beach Volleyball At LSU
Two-time All-American middle blocker Haleigh Nelson has announced that she will continue her volleyball career with the LSU beach volleyball team next year.
At the end of her four years with Wisconsin volleyball, Haleigh Nelson held the school record for career hitting percentage at Wisconsin, ranked third all-time in career blocks, and was fifth in career total blocks.
Despite using up her final year of indoor eligibility this fall and graduating from UW earlier this month, the two-time All-American middle blocker isn't finished being a student-athlete. Nelson recently announced her decision to play beach volleyball at Louisiana State while getting her MBA.
"Job hunting wasn't my thang so school and sports it is! @LSUBeachVB is my next move and bucky's not happy," Nelson posted on Twitter.

"I was like, why would I pass up an opportunity to continue being a student-athlete when that is the best role I've ever had?" Nelson said in an interview with the Wisconsin State Journal. "And I only have one year left to do it, so why not? It made sense for me. And I thought that continuing school would make me a better job candidate in future."
LSU beach volleyball earned a bid to its first-ever postseason this year, and as the No. 7 seed, the Tigers upset No. 6 Long Beach State in the contenders' bracket. Although LSU lost to Hawaii in the next round to end its NCAA championship run, the 27-8 season was the best one the Tigers have had since forming a program in 2014.
