Our Pick to Win It

Sports Performance 18 Elite

This squad ranked third in our first Flo50 18s rankings of the year. Texas-bound setter Ashley Shook and libero Martha Konovodoff were on the SPVB 18s team that won 18 Open at AAU nationals last year and will be leaders on the squad this year. Indiana commit Kamryn Malloy and Illinois-bound Marijke Van Dyke will be deadly from the pins.

Challengers

Club Fusion 18 Red

Channelling the skills of setters Julia Gauthier and Alexia Byrnes-Hosey, Club Fusion 18 Red is going to challenge for a number of championships. That's not to mention the raw power of outside hitters Grace Loberg and Allyson Barrett, who will be key for this team that ranked in the top 20 of our most recent 18s rankings.

1st Alliance 18 Silver

This team is solid at every position, but expect them to be particularly strong defensively Libero Lauren Barnes, who's headed to Minnesota in the fall, will be a thorn in the side of all opponents' hitters, while future Northwestern Wildcat middle Alana Walker will be shutting them down at the net.

Key players to watch include Virginia committed outside Alexandra Spencer and Notre Dame-bound libero Madison Cruzado.

Legacy 17 Elite

Legacy's top 17s team is playing up in 18 Open at the Presidents' Day Challenge. With key fivesome of setter Erin O'Leary (Michigan State), outsides Maria Mallon (Cincinnati) and Abbey Malinowski (Michigan), and middles Chandlar Duff (Oregon) and Lauren Wenzel (Notre Dame), the squad is more than up to the challenge and has the potential to pull off some really big upsets this weekend.
