Reigning Champ Leads Preseason Rankings

Ohio State leads the FloVolleyball preseason men's volleyball rankings after winning the national championship title in 2016. The Buckeyes only graduated one starter from that team, and they bring in a number of good candidates to fill his spot.

Find out more about the 2017 Ohio State team here.

BYU comes in at No. 1. The 2016 national runner-up graduated only middle blocker Michael Hatch and will be a very strong pin-hitting team. Learn more about BYU here.

UCLA didn't loose a single starter in the offseason and will be looking to make the NCAA post-season for the second season in a row. The Bruins play Ohio State opening weekend, and the results of that match are almost sure to determine next week's No. 1 team. For more on the 2017 Bruins, click here.

At No. 4, Long Beach State will rely heavily on sophomore trio TJ DeFalco, Josh Tuaniga, and Kyle Ensing. The 49ers open their season at the UCSB ASICS Invitational. Get the low-down on the LBSU squad here.

Another MPSF team comes in at No. 5. The Pepperdine Waves opened their season with a 3-2 win over Canadian powerhouse McMaster. Find out more about the Pepperdine squad, which will have to fill the holes left by two graduated middle blockers, here.

Lewis will likely be chasing Ohio State for dominance in the MIVA conference this season. The No. 6 preseason-ranked Flyers kick the season off with a tough test versus BYU. A solid group of five returning starters and a solid recruiting class should help Lewis make another run for the NCAA postseason. Click here for more info on the 2017 Flyers.

No. 7 Hawaii welcomes Larry Tuileta back to the island. The Punahou graduate played his freshman season at USC before taking 2016 off and then transferring back home to Hawaii. See how the 2017 Hawaii squad stacked up against the rest of the conference here.

UC Irvine battled injuries in 2016, but has star outside hitter Tamir Hershko back in action for 2017. The No. 8 Anteaters will be looking to turn around what was a disappointing 2016 season and find their way to the postseason once again. Read more here.

Stanford is in the tough position of having to replace its starting setter James Shaw, who graduated after the 2016 season. Luckily, they have three players who could fill the role. Find out who those three players are and how the rest of the Stanford team is looking for 2017 here.

The wildcard team in our preseason top 10 is USC. The Trojans have a good mix of veteran talent and promising newcomers, and if they remain healthy, could give higher-ranked teams trouble, especially when playing at home in LA. Learn more about USC here.
