USA Volleyball Hires Jamie Davis as New CEO
Jamie Davis has been hired as the new CEO of USA Volleyball, replacing the retired Doug Beal.
With the retirement of USA Volleyball CEO Doug Beal officially taking effect January 2, 2017, the national governing body of volleyball in the United States has announced the hiring of Jamie Davis as the new head of the organization.
Described as a sports media, marketing and business executive in USAV's press release, Davis most recently ran his own company Jomadrew Sports and Entertainment, LLC, and before that headed up Fanatics, Inc., the world's largest online retailer of officially licensed sports merchandise. He has also held positions at Versus (now NBC Sports Network), News Corporation, ESPN STAR Sports, CBS Sports and Fox Sports.
USAV's board of directors used an executive search firm alongside its own search committee to choose its new CEO. The USAV search committee included Misty May-Treanor, Tayyiba Haneef-Park and Brent Rasmussen, the Paralympic representative to the board. Davis is the seventh CEO of USAV and the first to come from outside the existing USAV leadership.
"The priority of the board was to find a chief executive with prior business experience and a track record of success in key areas that align with our strategic priorities," USAV Board of Directors Chair Lori Okimura said.
Davis emphasized his desire to keep USA Volleyball moving forward.
"I am excited to share my background in sports media, e-commerce and technology to provide fresh insights into the USA Volleyball organization," he said. "I look forward to reaching our constituents through new media channels; developing fresh marketing and brand awareness for the organization, the regions and our athletes; creating new sponsorship opportunities; and growing grassroots participation from the ground up with the goal of expanding USA Volleyball's success in international competition."
