The IOC has unveiled the Olympic and Paralympic medals for the 2016 Rio Games. In the past, the medals have been released months or even a year in advance of the event; however, this release comes only 52 days before the Rio Opening Ceremonies. See the designs below.

The Paralympic medals feature braille and include a tiny device that when shaken emits a noise that helps visually impaired Paralympians identify whether the medal is gold, silver or bronze. Gold medals make the loudest sound, and bronze the quietest.
