Bill Ferguson has accepted the head coaching position with Wake Forest University’s women’s volleyball program.

Wake Forest announced Ferguson’s hiring over the weekend. The former head coach of USC’s men’s program from 2005 to 2015 was not rehired after the 2015 men’s volleyball season with the USC athletic department citing a desire to “re-energize the program.” Last fall, Ferguson joined the Cal State-Los Angeles program as a volunteer assistant while continuing to serve as director of the Southern California Volleyball Club.

Last week, Cal State-LA announced that Ferguson would come on board as an assistant for the 2016-2017 season, but for obvious reasons, the offer of a head coaching position changed his plans.

Former Wake Forest head coach Ken Murczek resigned in April after the university announced it would open an investigation into allegations that Murczek mistreated his players.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons went 44-52 in 2015 (15-43 in the ACC). They will kick off their 2016 season with new head coach Ferguson on August 26 versus Radford.
