Poland, Iran, France and Canada’s men’s teams qualified for the Olympics at the FIVB World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo over the weekend. Seven thousand miles east, Mexico earned the final Olympic men’s indoor volleyball berth thanks to a 2-1 record at the World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Mexico City.

Poland and Iran both finished with 6-1 records in Tokyo. Poland lost only to Iran and ended Australia’s Olympic hopes with a straight set victory in both teams’ final match of the tournament. Iran lost only to France, securing the team’s first-ever bid to the Olympics. After the team earned its Rio berth, team manager Amir Khoshkhabar followed through with a promise to let the players shave his beard if they qualified for the Olympics.

Mexico lost its last match of the Mexico City tournament to Tunisia in five long back-and-forth sets, but the 3-2 loss was enough to keep the host team ahead of Chile by one point and secure the berth.

With all 12 Rio berths assigned, the FIVB released the men’s indoor volleyball pools for the 2016 Olympics. Team USA joins Brazil, Italy, Canada, France and Mexico in Pool A. Poland, Russia, Argentina, Iran, Cuba and Egypt will play in Pool B.
